Eugene is the Lane County seat at the south end of the Willamette Valley, near where the McKenzie and Willamette rivers meet.
It is home to the University of Oregon and the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, and its Saturday Market, founded in 1970, runs from April through November.
Eugene is about 139 road miles from St. Helens. Travel beyond 35 miles is quoted transparently up front.
